Thanksgiving - What It Is All About
Submitted by Bond & Devick Wealth Partners on November 25th, 2020What It Is All About
Thanksgiving is an important holiday for many reasons, as it has evolved from the first feast in Plymouth, Massachusetts 399 years ago. It is a time to reunite with family and friends in a celebration of gratitude. There is something for everyone – preparing and consuming food, decorating, football, crazy family members, friends, plus much more. However, this holiday has an economic significance as well.
From the feast itself to the weekend of holiday shopping that follows Thanksgiving plays an important role with its impact on the U.S. economy. If you consider the cost of travel, food for the 4-day Thanksgiving weekend, and holiday shopping this holiday boots the U.S. economy by tens of billions of dollars. Although economic impact of Thanksgiving will be reduced this year due to Covid-19, it is still expected to be significant. One area that did not shrink this year was giving. Minnesota’s Give to the Max Day last week was record breaking, bringing in 30 million dollars to the participating charities.
Bond&Devick’s Give to the Max Day Drive-Thru Event was a huge success! Many thanks to our clients who came and donated to three of the charities we support. RJ dropped of many bags of winter clothing to People Serving People, (a homeless shelter for families in Minneapolis), Interfaith Outreach Community Partners received Kristine and Andy’s SUVs filled with food and non-food items plus gift cards for their Holiday Program, and in lieu of our annual meal packing at Feed My Starving Children we made a donation for their GTMDMN match and we collected 2 big jars of cash and coins! This made such a difference to so many.
In the end, Thanksgiving is really a day of gratitude shared with friends and family. We have experienced a decade worth of events and pain in 2020 providing us with a deeper appreciation for things that matter most to us. While we know Thursday and this weekend will look different than past years, we hope you can find a way to make it special with video chat and good food.
Everyone at Bond&Devick wishes you the best and we cannot thank you enough for how you helped us make it through this challenging year. We are so grateful for your continued support, positivity, and sincere care for our team. There is much to be hopeful for and we are optimistic that next Thanksgiving we will be celebrating our treasured traditions like in past years.
Happy Thanksgiving,
The Bond&Devick Wealth Partners Team
